13th July 2020 - Face Coverings Strongly Recommended

Assalamu Alaikum wa rahmatullah wa barakatuh,

As you may be aware, there has been a significant increase in COVID-19 cases in Batley/Dewsbury. Staincliffe School is now closed due to a number of cases in members of staff. Additionally another local bed firm has closed due to a number of cases. Kirklees Council are especially concerned with the number of cases in Batley/Dewsbury.

Boris Johnson has today announced that face coverings should be worn in shops. Whilst, this is not mandatory/enforced at this stage, it is strongly recommended by the PM and the World Health Organisation. There is an expectation face masks will become compulsory soon (as mentioned by the PM) in which case, we will also have to adhere to this.

In order to protect the public and to ensure that we can continue utilising the Masjid with the current capacity, we are STRONGLY RECOMMENDING Face Coverings are worn to the Masjid by all Musallees. This is not mandatory at this stage but is the responsible thing to do to ensure we are doing our part to protect the public, stay open with the current capacity and try to prevent a localised lockdown.

If you do wear a mask, our Imaams have advised to remove the mask during Salaah only. The mask is strongly recommended to be worn at all other times in the Masjid.

Additionally, volunteers will be at the entrance reminding all musallees to sanitise their hands. Please do not be offended by this as it is not intended to be directed at anyone personally.

Whilst in the Masjid please socially distance at all times keeping a minimum of 1m apart from others. Please also continue to bring own musallahs and come with Wudhu.

Jazakallahu Khair for your cooperation.

We pray to Allah SWT for a safe and full opening of our Masaajid and may He protect all our communities from sickness and ill health both spiritual and physical.

Ameen
